What is Parish Social Ministry?

Parish Social Ministry (PSM) serves as a resource to parishes, schools and organizations in Eastern Washington for Catholic Social Teaching, outreach and advocacy, solidarity, justice and service.

We provide direction and coordination for all aspects of both direct service to those in need in Eastern Washington communities and of public policy advocacy to address systemic issues of injustice, all firmly rooted in the teachings and tradition of the Church.  The PSM office offers a variety of curricula for adult formation in Catholic Social Teaching and also facilitates conference and meeting opportunities every year for Catholics to learn more about their faith’s rich tradition and also ways to take those teachings into the public square.  The PSM office coordinates with the Washington State Catholic Conference on issues of state and national public policy identified as issues of concern by our Bishops.
