St. Margaret's Shelter

We are looking for volunteer drivers to transport clients to and from the Shelter to orientation meetings at the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). Spokane DVR is located at 1313 North Atlantic, Suite 1000 and is provided to individuals who want to work but experience barriers due to physical, sensory, and /or mental disabilities.  The meetings take about 30 minutes.  Ideally we would offer this to our clients 3 times a month.  The days/times they hold the meetings are Tuesday at 2pm, Wednesday at 11am and Thursday at 9am.

If you would like to volunteer for the 2014 Bureau, you are welcome to complete an application on-line anytime.  We will then contact you in October.

Note:  Volunteer applications can take up to a week to be processed after they are submitted. You will then be contacted by the program of your choice. We apologize any inconvenience.

Volunteers 15 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has submitted a volunteer application. Parental Permission Form

2013 Volunteer of the Year - Marguerite Daltoso - Walla Walla

The Catholic Charities Volunteer of the year Award is given to someone who truly exemplifies the giving of one’s heart and soul to our clients. The work that this individual performs transforms the lives of both the volunteer and the clients. The volunteer of the year demonstrates an unwavering commitment to others through their compassionate, supportive and loving service.

Marguerite Daltoso first volunteered as a member of the Advisory Council for Catholic Charities Walla Walla nine years ago.  During that time, she has worked tirelessly to help Catholic Charities continue its mission of working collaboratively to serve those in need.  For months each year, she leas the change in organizing the Annual St. Patrick's Day elebration and fundraiser by recruiting volunteers, creating the menu, developing a marketing plan, and gathering decorations.  Over 700 people have attended the event each year, raising thousands of dollars to help those in need.  The event is also a great FriendRaiser, bringing together friends and neighbors to share laughter, great food, and a common cause - to help Catholic Charities and the local Catholic school.

Marguerite makes each person she interacts with feel special and appreciated.  She is an example of love in her actions, her words, her work, and her compassion...a perfect recipient for the 2013 Volunteer of the Year!
