Community Listener - Listen and learn from patrons about their own personalbackground while working to understand more about the homeless population.
Community Educator - Instruct patrons on the basics of an approved skill or activity.
Front Desk Assistant - Assist and learn from Front Desk staff by observing the day-to-day responsibilities of staff members.
Volunteer Chore Services
Brown Bag and Commodities Program - One or two volunteers to help load bags and boxes at 2nd Harvest Food Bank into driver vehicles. Two mornings each month (the 3rd Wednesday and 3rd Thursday); 1-2 hours. Requires physical lifting of 10-20 lbs. This person (or persons) could also serve as a back up/substitute drivers as necessary.
Group Project Coordinator - One or two people to help the VCS staff coordinate service projects with school, church and business groups who want to do community service. Would involve calling clients who need help, pulling together cleaning or yard work supplies; working with the VCS staff to help see that the groups have meaningful and successful service project events. We coordinate 2-3 group projects per month.
Housework Volunteers - Individuals or families go into home or apartment of a low-income senior or disabled adult two times each month to help with vacuuming, dusting, mopping, general cleaning and possibly laundry. This is on-going help for the same client- a great way to really connect with someone in need.
Volunteer Drivers - Individuals to take low-income seniors and disabled adults to medical appointments and to the grocery store as needed. Volunteers use their own vehicles and can drive twice a month, once a week, or more depending on your availability and desire! Mileage reimbursement is available.

Childcare help Weds and Thurs evenings.
Start a summer program for kids-something like a once a week training.
Help women move out- someone with a truck perhaps that could assist the women with moving to new housing.
Work in the Community Garden
Help at the Farmer’s Market in the spring.
Community Warehouse volunteer help
Respite for women attending book club- Fridays before 5:00 p.m. or Tuesday 7:30-8:00 p.m.
Counseling Program
Filing, copying, data entry, phone surveys with clients and other office work. 2-4 hours a week.
St. Anne’s Children and Family Center
Family Literacy Project - Read one on one to children once a week. Collect book donations for library. Help organize family reading nights.
Gardening Project - Spend time with children assisting teachers while classes are in the garden. Help prepare ground area for planting. Assist in constructing a compost bin. Share any gardening experience or knowledge that you have. Call local businesses to ask for donations or supplies.
Housing
Assist seniors in learning basic computer skills
Austen Manor, Clarkston
Attend and interact with residents at scheduled activities.
Help with rides to stores or doctors appointments.
Run an activity for the residents. For example: head and run an exercise class.
Help sight impaired or mobility impaired residents with household duties.
Help with potlucks and special dinners.
Help with decorations during the holiday season.
